2019 Commit to Sit Raises $108,000

During the month of May, iBme community members commit to meditate every day and seek out donors to sponsor their month-long commitment, like a mindfulness meditation marathon. All funds raised support scholarships to attend iBme’s life changing mindfulness retreats.

This year, 101 Commit to Sit participants brought in 421 donations, totaling an astounding $108,000 and thousands of “hours sat” across the country and the world.

Every single dollar raised will go to support teens and teacher trainee scholarships. Specifically, this fundraising will support scholarships for 21 low income teachers to attend our year-long teacher training and full and partial scholarships for more than 37 teens to attend our summer retreats.

Additionally, we’ll be able to continue to keep our commitment that no teen is turned away for lack of funds. We are so grateful in this work to have friends and supporters who know the ripple effects mindfulness meditation can have in the life of one teen, one community, and one planet.

Each year, we challenge participants in several categories. This year’s winners are:

Individual Sitter with most minutes sat*:
Gwen Murphy with 1,395 minutes

Individual with highest fundraising total:
Sara Shapouri with $8,167

Individual with the most donations:
Lindsay Shields with 24 donors

Team with most donors AND the highest fundraising total:
Teenage Metta Ninja Turtles with $18,648

Team with the most minutes sat*:
More Metta, with 2,937 minutes sat

We thank everyone from the bottom of our very full hearts. Mark your calendar for our spring 2020 Commit to Sit!
