Contemplative Climate Leadership for Youth Course

Mindful Parenting

A Contemplative 4-week Course

In this course, we will practice mindfulness and compassion meditation and explore the intersection of parenting and mindfulness through discussion, shared learning, meditation periods, and relational mindfulness activities. The science of mindfulness suggests that we can build emotional resilience, inner strength and well-being, all qualities we hope to cultivate as parents. These inner resources help us develop the flexibility to be present, kind, and skillful whether we are alone or interacting with our children and families.

One of our intentions with this course is to support parents of our teens to develop a shared practice and language to support each other in deepening emotional and relational skills. This course is set up for parents who are new to meditation and those with more experience.

We all want our children to be happy, healthy, caring human beings that contribute to society and find meaning in their lives. How can we help that happen? Parents and close family make the most lasting impression by being role models. Treating our children and those around us with kindness, having integrity and humility, being careful with our emotions, paying attention to our own spiritual growth will resonate deeply with children growing up in this environment. – Anasuya Weil
